Looking at Options

We are enjoying our apartment and living in the city again.  There is so much to do and SO MANY places to shop.  And we have done a lot of that!  We feel we have the furniture we need, as soon as our two Lazy Boy chairs are delivered at the end of the month.

The only possible downside of where we are living is that all our neighbors are the age of our children and even grandchildren.  Our house in Arizona is in a 55+ resort and RVing has more seniors than young couples.  When we moved in our apartment, we feared the weekends would be pretty loud.  Don't 20-somethings party on the weekends?  But they don't do it here in the apartment complex.  Last Friday night there was a large gathering of young people, drinking beer, playing ping pong just hanging out in the courtyard outside our living room.  There were there till 9 pm, but I never heard them at all, even though I could see them. Obviously, this isn't an issue.

But we also want to be open to other housing options in the Denver area.  There are at least two 55+ apartment complexes we are aware of and we have visited both--The Ridge at Pinehurst and Windcrest.  When we met our guide at Windcrest, she had already realized that we had met before.  In fact, when we moved to Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, in 1984 for John's enrollment at Nashotah House Seminary, we bought the townhouse that she and her parents, Ed and Sarah Morgan, had lived.  Not only that, her parents live in Windcrest!

We enjoyed the tour and are impressed with the facility.  We think that is where we will consider moving when we want more activity and health-care options available.  Windcrest is an approved healthcare facility with independent living, assisted living and nursing home areas.  There are physicians on the staff.

Combine that with the fact we connected with several other people we know--or knew--from when we lived in Boulder and the Denver area. We felt at home.   The next day, we returned to have dinner with Ed and Sarah. We had an enjoyable evening and left with a lot to think about.

All that thinking has led us to the conclusion we are not ready to sell our home in Superstition Views and spend all our time in Colorado.  However, we are pretty sure that when we are ready to make that change, Windcrest is likely to be where we will end up.
